Sitting all the way down to breakfast, I turned to the letters web page and caught sight of Ben Jennings’ highly effective cartoon (24 November). I caught my breath after which wept. Studying in current days about dad and mom skipping meals as a method of eking out meagre family revenue has been sobering, however had not one of the immediacy of Jennings’ picture and the determined affect of the kid’s phrases: “Dad – when will I be grown up sufficient to not want dinner any extra, such as you?”

Your article (Pedestrian ‘jungle’: the row in Paris over rented e-scooters, 23 November) says the UK “bans private e-scooters from public streets”. As a denizen of Oxford, all I can say to that’s: you may have fooled me.

After I was rising up, I by no means noticed my dad and mom drink water, ever (Eight glasses of water a day excessive for most people, study suggests, 24 November). Tea was their go-to when thirsty. We have been instructed that ingesting water with a meal would cut back our urge for food, although we have been inspired to drink milk.

Your article on fax machines, typewriters and so on (‘My friends call me the BlackBerry queen!’, 23 November) had me reaching for my Thirties Bewi extinction meter. The studying was not very encouraging.
